Every Wednesday, News 4 This Morning takes a look at the stories from our show that viewers and readers are talking about on our webchannel and related social media.

On Monday, News 4 showed you pictures from the organizers of a counter-protest against the Westboro Baptist Church. This took place in Tuscaloosa, Alabama at the main campus of the University of Alabama. That article received a great deal of attention, with several re-tweets, 59 Facebook likes, and at one point was the most popular article in our webchannel’s News section.

Another story that we shared on Monday was an international one. In an Associated Press report, a restaurant in Spain allows customers to work for an hour—by cleaning, serving, etc.—to earn their meal if they cannot pay. On our Facebook page, we asked viewers and readers if they would work for a meal in that situation. A user named “Sissy Kat” says, “Absoultely…helps those out that are less fortunate. Keeps people from going hungry...this is awesome.” And, Rebecca Wallace adds, “I would work my hour and more for the hungry ones unable to work for food!!!”

Last week, News 4’s Paul Stockman showed you gamers from around the wiregrass, including a group of Live Action Role Players that meet every week at Westgate Park. A user named Bunny commented on the story, saying, “Oh, wow. I had to watch the video twice, that was just hilarious. But, hey, at least they're having fun. I may have to go for a walk at Westgate, just so I can see that in person. LOL.” A user named Kayla responded to that, saying, “Do more than walk by. We'd be more than happy to talk to you for a few minutes about what we do.”

Tuesday, we told you how, despite only coming out in theaters a week ago, Star Trek: Into Darkness was already available for pre-order on DVD and Blu-Ray through certain online retail outlets. On our Facebook page, Tony Reeder commented that, “If there is a movie I want bad enough, I will be at WalMart at midnight the morning of the release.”

On Friday, News 4 interviewed Jessica Goodson of Enterprise’s “All About Art.” During the interview, Demetria and Paul added details to owls with paint. And, on our Facebook page, we asked which owl did you think was best. The results had Demetria with 44% of the vote and Paul with 12%. However, 44% of the vote also voted that they couldn’t decide or it was a tie!
