U.S. Airstrikes Begin in Iraq

AL.com -- U.S. military aircraft have conducted a strike on artillery near Irbil, Iraq, Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby announced Friday morning.

The Pentagon announcement came about 8:23 a.m. Central Time.

The strikes included two U.S. F/A-18 jets dropping 500-pound laser-guided bombs on mobile artillery used by ISIS to shell Kurdish areas.
