Two Dothan Senior Centers are Merging

Dothan - The Dorothy Quick Senior Center will be merging with Rose Hill Senior Center.

Members of the Dorothy Quick center packed the commission chambers Tuesday morning to voice their opposition.

The city declined giving the private center an additional $10,000 dollars.
Mayor Mike Schmitz said the merger was necessary.

"They just needed to keep going and wanted additional funding. We thought the solution would be to combine it with a program we already had. It will be more efficient. It will save money. And give incredible service to our senior citizens," he said.

The Dorothy Quick Center's last day will be September 28.
