A Clemson University student put together a project to help turtles cross the road... And found out how cruel some drivers can be.
Nathan Weaver put realistic looking rubber turtles on the highway and watched as people intentionally ran over the turtle.
Researches say that targeting of turtles and other reptiles isn't surprising.
Several studies show a decline in the number of reptile populations.
Weaver hopes to study animal conservation and go to graduate school.
