Thor is a Marvel Comics hero that dates back to the 1960s, based on the Norse legends of old. Connected with other Marvel films like Iron Man, Thor was released on May 6th, 2011.

The film starred Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder, who is cast out of his realm to the land of Earth, or Midgard. There he meets Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, and becomes a defender of humans.

Thor was a massive success, making nearly $450 million on a roughly $150 million budget. Thor's character would return in the even bigger hit, The Avengers, and in a direct Thor sequel released last year.
