On June 9, 1973, "Secretariat" became the first horse in 25 years to win thouroughbred racing's Triple Crown.

He won the Belmont Stakes, after winning the two previous races, the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.

Secretariat was one of the most thrilling horses of his era.

As he charged through the three races of the Triple Crown, he clocked the fastest times ever to date for the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes.
