Dothan Police were forced to shut down an area road for people’s safety late Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred at West Main and Park Street in the city of Dothan. Around 9pm on June the 6th, a suspicious package was found outside of the Wells Fargo Bank located on 1315 West Main Street.

Because of this package, authorities shut down part of the roadway as they investigated what the package contained.

Keith Gray, the Special Operations Commander of the Dothan Police Department’s Bomb Squad, explained, “Once we arrived, um, we did see the package and we basically used our safe techniques to go down, see what was inside of the bag, without touching or disturbing it and then made the determination that it was harmless.”

No injuries were reported from the incident and roads were back open by 11pm Wednesday night.
