High temperatures can be a dangerous situation.

Here are a few ways to beat the heat.

Dothan has opened all of its recreation centers and used them as cooling stations.

Although they are only open under extreme heat, it is a way for people to cool off.

Another way to stay safe, stay hydrated.

City employees and residents alike know the importance of drinking water.

"Everyone needs to understand the basic rules of staying hydrated and they is drinking as many fluids as you can," said Debbie Reed, director of Rose Jill Senior Center. "If you are just sitting at your desk or out walking or any activity you are out being involved in you need to take time to be hydrated."

It is also important to check on neighbors to make sure they are keeping cool.
