Spring Fashion Show in New York

Romantic, fluid and cozy are just a few of the words designer Michael Kors used to describe his spring 2014 collection.

The native New Yorker showcased 56 looks at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York on Wednesday (September 11).

Before the show Kors said this season is all about sensuality.

"It's really all about romance and soften up. There's something about when the weather turns warm the idea of wearing clothes that actually catch the breeze. Which certainly feels great and I think it also looks great," Kors told Reuters.

The designer started the show with white linen looks for men and womenswear before going into hemp, indigo, blues, nutmeg and green.

"It sounds cliché to say but there are so many gorgeous colors in nature that for me, especially when the weather turns everyone's garden comes to life. So green automatically just makes me feel great. I love all of these beautiful cinnamon colors. But a lot of white, white automatically puts you in a great mood," he said.

Flirty skirts, dresses and pants were cut with movement in mind.

The ease of Kors' brand is always matched with lavish touches.

"I'm a jeans and t-shirts kind of guy but we love to always sort of have this juxtaposition of being about to do it in a very glamorous way. Our denim is all cashmere. We have denim lace. Our t-shirts are python. So it's the best of both worlds. How do you be causal and laid back and have that sort of romantic easy attitude, but still have glamour and luxury," he explained.

Kors' show is always a magnet for celebrities. Sitting front row were actresses Kate Mara and Katie Holmes.

"I've always been a fan of Michael Kors. I'm so excited to be here," said Holmes, who showcased new looks from her brand Holmes & Yang earlier in the week.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York will end on September 12.
