Softball Game Benefits Food Bank

Your favorite media personalities and Wiregrass elected officials laced up their cleats Saturday for a softball game, and it was all for a good cause.

The game benefited the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank.

The elected officials were vying for a comeback after losing a close game last year.

Their bats were hot, and the Watchdogs' defense wasn't. Voters Voices scored early and often.

The media was able to rally in the 5th inning, but it wasn't enough.

The Voters Voices won 7 – 15.

While it's nice to win, everyone was in agreement, the game was about helping needy families.

Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver said, “Ecstatic that we've won this fair and square. We had some issues with the umpire, but overall it was a great day. A good victory for the elected officials, and most importantly a lot of food for the food bank.”

About 300 pounds of food and $600 was collected at the game for the food bank.
