Semifinals Set at Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic

Barbour County used a late run in the fourth quarter to edge Northview 51-46 at the Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic. With the win, the Jaguars advanced to the semifinals against Abbeville on Saturday night.

Brian Patrick scored and was fouled with less than a minute to play, tying the game at 46. Patrick made the free throw, giving the Jaguars a lead for the first time since midway through the second quarter.

Northview would turn the ball over on it's ensuing possession, and the Jaguars followed with two free throws to give the Jags a 49-46 lead. Marquez White missed a long jumper on the Cougars next possession, and Barbour County put the game away at the free throw line.

Patrick had 11 points and Patterson added 10 for the Jaguars.

White led Northview with 18 points.

Abbeville - 76 Headland - 66

Telly Shaw had a monster night with 26 points and 16 rebounds, leading Abbeville past Headland 76-66. Trey Grimsley added 20 points and eight boards for the Yellow Jackets.

Abbeville built a comfortable lead, but watched it slip away in the second half. Headland cut Abbeville's lead to two points late in the fourth quarter before the Jackets pulled away for the 10-point win.

Anthony Keith scored 29 points and LeBrannon Nix added 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Rams. This was the fourth meeting between the traditional rivals, with each team winning twice.

Dothan - 69 Dale County - 33

Adrian Kirkland erupted for 23 points, leading Dothan past Dale County 69-33. The Tigers advanced to face Eufaula in the semifinals on Saturday.

Dothan broke open a close game in the second quarter, outscoring the Warriors 26-5 to build a 43-13 halftime lead. The Tigers defense proved to be the defense, forcing 35 turnovers on the night.

Jeffrey Whatley led the Warriors with 15 points.

Eufaula - 47 Houston Academy - 40

Eufaula and Houston Academy slugged it out for the final spot in the semifinals, with the Tigers eventually pulling out a 47-40 win. Jaylin Robinson scored 16 points to lead Eufaula into the final four.

It took all 32 minutes for Eufaula to put the Raiders away. The Tigers led by two points after the first quarter, and just one point at halftime. Eufaula outscored HA by three points in the third and fourth quarters to survive and advance.

Houston Academy's Alex Thompson followed up his 40-point performance in round one with a solid 19 points, 14 rebound effort. However, Thompson struggled from the floor, hitting just 8-of-25 shots.
