The Bay County Sheriff’s Office announced today the resurgence of an email scam in our area. This particular scam has been circulating since 2005 and originates outside the United States.

In the email, the perpetrator informs the victim that he has been watching them for a period of time because he has been hired to kill them. However, the supposed “hit man” is reluctant to carry out his task as he has come to realize the victim is a really a good person. For the amount of $10,000, the perpetrator will not kill the victim, but will instead give the intended victim enough evidence to convict the person who originally wanted them dead.

Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Bay County Sheriff’s Office urge anyone who has received this email not to respond, not to send money, and simply delete the email.
