Scale Back Alabama at River Nile

Scale Back Alabama is at it again. The statewide weight-loss competition started today. Teams of 4 opted to loose 10 pounds or more during a 10-week period. If all members succeed, they could win one-thousand dollars each. Their weekly weigh-ins are at River Nile restaurant and Saturday teams figured out plans to shed the pounds.

Katie Hart, owner of River Nile suggested, “It's called LoseIt.com. It's a really neat app, and there's bunches of apps out there but this is one that’s very easy. You can scan the bar code of whatever you're about to eat and put in the serving size and it kind of gives you the budget for the day."

For the next 10 weeks, River Nile will make diet-friendly, but filling, salads to make the process a bit easier. State officials said it is about teaching Alabamians to eat right, stay active, and lead a healthier, happier life.
