Imagine going to the grocery store, airport or even a sporting event, and instead of there being people working, it's robots. The future is closer than you think.

Reginald is a life-sized humanoid robot. He can sing, dance, even act.

British experts in Cornwall say robots like Reginald could soon become part of your daily life.

"You already have a robot checkout at the supermarket - The bar code scanner," said Will Jackson. "Imagine there's a personality to that. It can recognize your expression, what you bought last week."

There are 50 of these robots already roaming museums and visitor centers around the world. Each one costs about $90,000.

Reginald is equipped with cameras, depth perception, face and voice recognition.

His movements are powered by a combination of compressed air which drives his muscles.

But if you're worried robots will outsmart people, don't be.

Reginald: "I must warn you I have been specifically programmed not to take over the world. So if you are a James Bond-style villain, don't even think about messing with me!"

Inventors are now trying to make more technological leaps so the next generation of robots can run and jump just like us.

Google recently spent millions of dollars buying up robotic companies. It's reportedly part of a top-secret strategy to research how robots can change people's lives.
