Printing Error Adds up to a $3.79 Million Mistake for Federal Reserve

The Federal Reserve made a $3.79 million mistake.

$30 million new and improved $100 bills have to be replaced because of a printing error.

The new bills were supposed to feature deterrents to counterfeiting, including a Liberty Bell that changes colors, a hidden message on Ben Franklin’s collar and 3-D images that move when the bill is tilted.

The money was supposed to be released in 2011, but it was delayed for two years because of another printing error.

That time, there were blank spots on some of the notes.
