Authorities say around 2 A.M. Tuesday, Daleville Police stopped a 16-year-old teenager who they say was acting suspiciously.
The teenager allegedly told authorities he had a pipe bomb at his fiancé’s house on G Street in Level Plains. Police in Level Plains were called to the house where they found two pipe bombs in a dresser.
The Dothan Bomb Squad was called in along with Houston County authorities. The bombs were disarmed and no injuries have been reported at this time.
Level Plains Police Chief Lanice Bonds said, “He has no particular motive in mind for doing it. He said that he constructed the devices to detonate on the Fourth of July, but never got around to it.”
Police say the bombs were amateur and were not a terrorist threat. Authorities are withholding the suspect's name because he is a minor, but they have told WTVY that the suspect is in custody.
The suspect is reportedly from Texas and authorities are continuing to investigate. Stay tuned to WTVY as we will have more information as it becomes available.
