Tuesday afternoon (March 5th) at approximately 5:00pm the Bonifay Police Department responded to the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy located on West Highway 90 after receiving a call of an armed robbery at that location.
Officers were advised by dispatch personnel that the suspect had fled on awhite SUV traveling west in the eastbound lane of Highway 90. As the patrol officer arrived at the Medicine Shoppe, a fireman with Bonifay Fire and Rescue reported to dispatch that a vehicle matching the descriptionwas traveling east on Brock Avenue at a high rate of speed. The employees stated that the suspect had a long gun, possibly semi-automatic rifle in his possession while committing the robbery.
Also, the suspect obtained two types of controlled substances, which included alprazolam (Xanax) and hydrocodone (Lortab). Based upon several facts learned in the investigation, a suspect was identified as Clayton Kyle Clemmons, white male, age 41, of Bonifay. Deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff's Office made contact with him at his residence on Chance Road located just outside the city limits of Bonifay.
Clemmons was taken into custody by deputies and the stolen medication was recovered along with several firearms, at least one of which believed to be the weapon used in the armed robbery.
Clemmons was transported to Doctor's Memorial Hospital for evaluation before being booked into the Holmes County Jail.
