A medical mystery has struck a community in upstate New York.

More than a dozen young women at the same high school are suffering from uncontrolled verbal outbursts and twitching.

Sixteen known students at Le Roy High School are suffering from the mysterious malady.

Parents of the affected children say the undiagnosed tourettes-like symptoms are frightening, but the mystery disease is affecting parents of unaffected children as well.

"Your heart just breaks," said Lana Clark, mother to one of the affected students. "It aches. This is your child. You don't want this for your children. Or even anybody else's children."

"I'm concerned everyday she goes to school and everyday she comes home," said Craig, father of an unaffected student. I'm constantly monitoring her, after a nap. She gets up in the morning, I'm looking at her... Is she ok?"

The school system has hired a company to review environmental testing within the school and community.
