UPDATE: This story was updated at 3:55 p.m.
On March 28 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a missing person’s report on a person identified as Mishy Brown, a white female, 44, who is a resident of the Bascom, Fl area.
Family members reported that Brown was last seen on March 27 walking near the westbound lane of I-10 near Marianna.
Investigators searched the area described by the family member, but were unable to locate the missing individual. Brown was also entered into the local and national database for missing persons.
On July 24 the Marianna Police Department responded to a report of a deceased person found behind a wooded area, near the intersection of I-10 and the Kynesville Highway.
During the investigation by the Marianna Police Department it was revealed that there are some similarities in the description of the deceased person and the missing person, Brown.
The identity of the deceased person cannot be determined until the investigation by the Marianna Police Department is concluded.
The following information is from the Mariana Police Department.
The Marianna Police Department responded to the discovery of a partially decomposed female body hanging from a fence near the I-10 exit and Pennsylvania Ave. in Marianna.
The body was discovered just before 10 a.m. on July 24, by subcontractors who were spraying foliage in the area for the Department of Transportation. A pill bottle and a pair of shoes with the laces removed were found at the scene.
The cause of death is undetermined and will be pending the Medical Examiners findings from autopsy and toxicological examination of the deceased.
Possible identification of the deceased based exclusively on the deceased’s’ clothing has led to inquiry into a possible connection to a missing persons case of a Bascom Florida woman, from March of this year, which is currently under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Sheriff’s Office Report the missing woman got out of her vehicle near the intersection of I-10 and Pennsylvania Ave. leaving her husband behind in the vehicle and disappeared. Her husband reported her missing to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Positive identification of the deceased will have to await verification via DNA or dental records due to extended expose to elements and decomposition. As soon as that information is available and the family has been notified a follow-up news release will be made public.
