Man Accused of Opening Credit Account with Another Person's Social Security Number

On July 5 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest following a theft investigation.

Investigators say on April 26, Melton Rivers, 24, of Flynn Road, opened a Sears Roebuck and Company credit account using another person’s social security number. Once the account was open, investigators say Rivers purchased miscellaneous items which totaled approximately $2,300.

Rivers was charged with second degree theft of property by deception. His bond amount has been set at $5,000.
