VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) -- Police at Valdosta State University have concluded that a 17-year-old found dead on campus was murdered. Authorities initially did not declare foul play after Jasmine Benjamin was found dead last Sunday in a study room. Police have several persons of interest but no suspects yet.
CLARKSTON, Ga. (AP) -- A fire at a DeKalb County apartment building has left seven families homeless. The fire destroyed several units at the Brannon Hill Apartments complex in Clarkston. None of the residents were injured. The Red Cross is giving lodging and food.
ATLANTA (AP) -- Since a new rail trail opened last month in Atlanta, it has drawn crowds of joggers, dog-walkers and cyclists to take in spectacular views of the skyline and neighborhoods once seen only by train. The Eastside Trail is part of a $2.8 billion Beltline plan to transform a 22-mile railroad corridor into a network of trails, parks, homes and ultimately streetcar lines.
