DOTHAN -- Several departments are temporarily moving out of the county's administrative building while it undergoes improvements.
The plan is for them to relocate to the old Mayer Electric Supply Building on North Foster Street.
The commission asked offices to look into any improvements they want accomplished before they move out. These changes include anything that could make the departments operate more efficiently.
The county commission believes the changes will take place in December so the offices will be ready for the new year.
One addition they are particularly excited for is a second driver's license machine.
"We're really only one of the few counties in the state, if any, that has two driver's liscense machines in the office now," Chairman Mark Culver said. "What that means is we can address the line, if you will, to renew your driver's license in a much faster manner."
Expenses for moving, operating temporary offices and renovations are expected to cost around $380,000.
