HOUSTON COUNTY, AL -- A single-vehicle crash early this morning claimed the life of a Gordon man. The crash occurred at approximately 12:05 a.m. on Alabama 53 at the intersection of Houston County 33, three miles north of Cottonwood. Thomas Frank Rash Jr., 38, was driving a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle when the vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a utility pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd. Although the investigation into the crash continues, Alabama State Troopers say alcohol and speed were a factor in the crash.
