Former Students of Dozier School for Boys Speak Out about Excavation

MARIANNA -- Former students gave their chilling testimonies this weekend at Dozier School for Boys. They gathered at the St. James AME Church for a memorial service.

They paid their respects to the black and white boys who died at the school.

Dr. Erin Kimmerle and team members from the University of South Florida began the exhumation phase on Saturday. They are hoping to find, identify, and re-bury the remains in a respectful manner.

Roger Kiser attended the school from 1959-1961. He said his biggest hope is that the deceased finally get the respect they deserve.

"They're going to find a little good and a whole bunch of bad," Kiser said. "I want this excavation to be seen as a crime scene, that's most important to me."
