DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) -- Drug agents in northern Alabama say despite the state curbing sales of meth ingredients, authorities are seizing large quantities of the drug being imported from Mexico.

Alabama Drug Task Force Chairman Barry Matson says the state is doing an "admirable job" of reducing domestic production of meth.
However, DEA spokeswoman Romona Sanchez told the Dothan Eagle (http://bit.ly/1a1KVAt ) the influx of meth produced in Mexico is likely linked to relatively recent restrictions on consumers buying ephedrine and pseudoephedrine in Alabama.

A law that went into effect this year allows only pharmacies to sell medication containing meth ingredients, and requires them to be kept behind a counter. The bill also requires customers to show ID and prevents people from buying more than 7 1/2 grams of the drugs every 30 days.
