Some Holmes County, Florida residents could see their power bills soar.

Gulf power is proposing a seven and a half percent increase. That would mean a nearly $9 raise for average residential customers.

Bonifay Councilman Robert Brooks says he will ask the City Attorney to draft a resolution to send to the Public Service Commission against the increase.

Bonifay City Council members will discuss the proposed resolution at their Sept. 8 meeting. Gulf Power Officials say the proposed increase will cover rising operating costs.
