UPDATE: Flash Flooding Hits Troy Overnight

UPDATE:

Around 10:30pm Tuesday evening, the Weather Service office out of Birmingham placed Pike County under a Flash Flood Warning.

This warning included Troy, Brundidge, Goshen and surrounding communities.

The storm responsible for the storm was very slow moving. At the Troy Municipal Airport, 1.41” was reported within a six hour period.

In the text of their warning, the National Weather Service said another part of Troy received nearly 3 and a half inches of rain, with radar estimates above 4 inches for other parts of the county.

The warning was allowed to expire at 1am, with the storm dissipating around 2am.

The National Weather Service continues a Flash Flood Warning for Pike County through 1am Central Standard Time.

The threat of flooding continues for Pike County for the next couple of hours. According to the National Weather Service, nearly 3 and a half inches of rain has fallen in Downtown Troy and flooding was reported on Troy’s Elm Street.

Communities that will be affected by this slow-moving storm include Brundidge, Goshen, Troy, Ansley, Antioch, Banks, Linwood, the Troy Muncipal Airport and the Troy University campus.

Forecasters warn that an additional inch to inch and a half of rain may be possible.

If you cannot judge the depth of water, do not step into or drive through it.
