Fla. Man Gets Prison Time for Video Voyeurism

STARKE, Fla. (AP) -- A 49-year-old man has been sentenced to 17 1/2 years in prison for secretly videotaping women and girls in a tanning booth he set up outside his home in Starke.

Doyce Dean Griffis will also serve 10 years of probation under the ruling issued Monday by U.S. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard. Griffis pleaded guilty in February to five counts of producing videos of child pornography.

The Gainesville Sun reports investigators found 103 videos and 45 images of child pornography on Griffis' laptop.

Griffis operated a tanning bed in a barn on his property for 11 years.

Customers paid $2 to use the tanning bed. Government officials say Griffis recorded them as they undressed and got into the bed, using a two-way mirror and a hole in the vent.
