Deputies arrested 23-year old William Thomason of 328 Seminole Street Saturday morning at his home on a charge of aggravated child abuse. They had been called to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center around 6:30p.m. Friday regarding an eight-week-old girl with suspicious injuries who had been brought to the emergency room by E-M-S. The baby had bruising, a broken collarbone, and severe head trauma and was taken by helicopter to the Pediatric I-C-U at Sacred Heart where doctors say her chance of survival is “slight”.
Thomason told deputies he was the only person with the victim during the time period between when she was left in his care and the injuries were discovered. He gave deputies several scenarios about how the injuries may have occurred, including that the infant may have hit her head on the faucet while he was giving her a bath.
