FL Senate Commitee Meets on Obamacare

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida Senate Select Committee on the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), chaired by Senator Joe Negron (R-Stuart), will meet on Monday, January 14, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The committee with meet with representatives from Florida companies to discuss impacts and trends facing Florida’s private sector employers as the federal government moves forward with the implementation of PPACA.

The meeting will begin with an overview of employer trends and options, provided by Justin Kindy of AonHewitt and Jon Urbanek of Florida Blue Cross/Blue Shield and will be followed by a panel discussion, during which employers will be asked to tell of their own analysis of the impact of PPACA on their current business models and what changes they may consider implementing as a result of the new law.

The meeting will conclude with the opportunity for public testimony, including an update on correspondence received via the PPACA comment section of the Senate website.

Representatives from the following companies have been invited to attend: TECO Energy, Daszkal Bolton LLP, and Marpan Recycling.
