Crews finished sliding the Milton-Madison Bridge into place Thursday.
This time-lapse video (seen above) shows the historic move.

Engineers slid the nearly half-mile long bridge from its temporary supports onto permanent piers.

They'll spend about a week inspecting it before it is opened to traffic.

According to, the record breaking slide is the longest in America to be slid laterally into place.

It sits over the Ohio River and connects Madison, Indiana and Milton, Kentucky.

The bridge has been closed since a March 11 construction accident.
