Elected Officials Versus Media Softball Game to Benefit Wiregrass Food Bank

The Sixth Annual Elected Officials versus Media Softball Classic will be held Saturday, April 26, at 10:30 a.m at Colby Field next to Rip Hewes Stadium.

The event is held annually to benefit the Wiregrass Area Food Bank and their mission of helping feed our community. The entry fee is non perishable food or cash donations to enjoy the competition, laughs and entertainment as the “Voter’s Voices” and the “Watchdogs” square off once again to see who will have bragging rights for another year.

The event was the brain child six years ago of former WTVY reporter Erica Proffer who partnered with Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver to raise awareness and food for the Food Bank. Chairman Culver continues to “coach” the Voters Voices while the Watchdogs are now led by Kim Allen of WTVY. The event has grown annually and now includes a lunch at Beef O’ Brady’s after the game with 10% of the proceeds going to the Food Bank.

Elected officials scheduled to “play” include Chairman Culver, Mayor Schmitz, City and County Commissioners, Judge Binford and others.

Everyone is invited to attend the game and meet at Beef O’ Brady’s. For additional information, contact Mark Culver, 334/677-4740.
