ECHO -- According to Echo Fire & Rescue Fire Chief Eric Blankeship, the town's ISO number dropped from a 7/9 to a 6/6x.

The important aspect for the community is that their insurance premiums could drop after September 1, 2014.

The ISO rating comes from three categories: the fire department, the communications center and the water system.

In order to lower the number, a structure, farm or commercial property must be within five miles from a fire station or have a fire hydrant within a thousand feet of the dwelling.

In September, a person could pay a lower insurance premium for the land or structure they claim if they fit those requirements.
