The following is a statement from the Dothan Police Department:
After an extensive internal investigation it was determined that Captain Keith Gray violated Police Department General Orders and Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of Dothan to the extent that his violations were intolerable offenses.
His employment with the Dothan Police Department and City of Dothan has been terminated effective immediately.
Captain Keith Gray of the Dothan Police Department has cleaned out his desk.
Captain Gray was placed on administrative leave in August. The Dothan Police Internal Affairs Division has been conducting an investigation.
On Monday, Sept. 23 WTVY went to the Dothan Police Department and saw Captain Gray removing items from his unmarked Police car and from his office.
Chief Greg Benton was also seen walking up the stairs where Officer Gray’s office is.
The Dothan Personnel Department had a determination hearing on Monday morning. Currently, it is unclear if Captain Gray has been terminated or if he has opted to take an early retirement.
The subject of the investigation into Gray has not been released.
