Dothan Hospital Going Smoke-Free in 2014

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) -- A Dothan hospital will soon join a number of medical facilities nationwide implementing a campus-wide tobacco ban.

Reports say that after Jan. 1, Flowers Hospital will no longer allow smoking on its campus.

Hospital CEO Suzanne Woods says the facility is responsible for providing a healthy and safe environment, and is looking to promote healthy behaviors.

Director of professional services, Karen Wortmann, says the smoking ban extends to electronic cigarettes as well.

The Southeast Alabama Medical Center has also announced it will be a smoke-free campus beginning Jan. 1.
