Doctor Saves Life During Winter Storm

A brain surgeon in Alabama is being credited with saving a patients life, after hiking for about six miles during the most severe part of Tuesday’s winter storm.

Doctor Zenko Hrynkiw was at one hospital, when patients at a different need an emergency operation for a traumatic brain injury.

The storm had already locked down traffic, and the doctor vehicle could only drive a few blocks.

He decided that the patient needed him badly, and it was time to walk.

“He had a 90% chance of death. And the nurses and the ER physicians also told me while was walking, said he had deteriorated, went into unconsciousness. if he didn't have surgery, he'd be dead and it's not going to happen on my shift."

Hospital officials say the patient is doing well.
