Daleville -- Although the Billy Adkins Community Center has welcomed Daleville residents for years, its new renovations made it more inviting during Thursday evening's opening ceremony.

Center directors worked tirelessly for the past few months cleaning and revamping the building. When it opened for the ceremony, the community was thrilled to see brightly painted walls and a new game room.

Mayor Claudia Wigglesworth said she is grateful for another place the community can spend their free time.

"For kids, especially after school, to have a safe place to come and unwind," Wigglesworth said.

The center is now open from Monday through Thursday until 8:00 p.m. and Friday until 5:00 p.m. Tae Kwon Do, GED classes and Zumba are among the many opportunities for the community to get together.
