Houston County, AL - The Houston County Commission and the City of Dothan could soon be helping each other save money.

Thursday, county commissioners discussed a joint purchase agreement during their administrative meeting.

Leaders say they could buy items like fuel, tires, and items for the road and bridge department at a lower cost.

This would be like an open-ended agreement, and just another tool to help make the most of their resources.

“Save money. It's all about; we have a finite amount of tax that we get both the city and the county. It's our duty to make sure we do as good a job as we can and making those tax dollars go as far as they can.
This is just one more step with our partnership with the city,” said Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver.

The Houston County Commission will vote on the agreement Monday. City leaders are still reviewing it.
