A Dothan Police Corporal has been terminated.
Corporal RaeMonica Carney was terminated from the Dothan Police Department this morning.
Earlier this year, Carney was placed on administrative leave for comments she made on her personal Facebook page.
Earlier this month, she was placed on another suspension following a domestic dispute incident that occurred at Carney’s home.
Carney appealed her first suspension.
The Dothan Personal Board upheld that decision.
Carney then appealed the decision of the Personal Board.
That appeal has ruled on yet.
The following is a statement from RaeMonica Carney regarding her termination:
Corporal Carney committed no wrongdoing. The Dothan Police Department accused her of “gross insubordination,” yet she was an off-duty victim of a minor domestic incident. The evidence will show that the department not only failed to properly investigate the incident on Corporal Carney’s behalf as a citizen, but quickly leaked select details of the incident and investigation to the press in an apparent attempt to disparage her character. We believe Corporal Carney is being railroaded and that the department’s true motive is retaliation based on Corporal Carney’s pending discrimination, harassment, and constitutional claims.
Corporal Carney plans to appeal her termination.
