Commissioner Urges Changes For Spring Break

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Some members of the Bay County Commission are voicing support for plans to bring changes to spring break.

A handful of residents addressed the board with concerns on Tuesday. And Commissioner Mike Thomas, whose district includes Panama City Beach, says the city will likely consider a number of changes, including an alcohol ban on the beach and earlier closing times for bars.

Thomas says that while no one wants a "police state," more stringent rules are needed for spring break and other special events that bring in large crowds.
