City of Cowarts wants Houston County's help with New Traffic Light

Cowarts residents may or may not have a traffic light coming to their area.

The city of Cowarts is asking the Houston County commission to help pay for a traffic light.

The project costs $185,500.

The city of Cowarts will pay $92,750 of that.

They're asking Houston County to pick up the rest of the tab and pay 46, 375.

"With the church being built there it's also lots more traffic and it's hard to get out on Sundays. We have complaint after complaint about the traffic jam there at 84," explained Cowarts Mayor Randy Roland.

The city also wants to add caution lights before the actual signal to warn drivers that a light is approaching.

Commissioners will vote Monday on whether or not to pay the amount requested.
