Carnival seasons begins on Ala.'s Dauphin Island

The Krewe De La Dauphine procession starts weeks of pre-Lenten festivities. Those celebrations reach their peak on Fat Tuesday, also called Mardi Gras, on Feb. 12.

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- Carnival season is getting off to a warm start.
Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/VA9mBB ) that the first parade is rolling out Saturday afternoon on Dauphin Island.

The Krewe De La Dauphine procession starts weeks of pre-Lenten festivities. Those celebrations reach their peak on Fat Tuesday, also called Mardi Gras, on Feb. 12.

Parade spectators will be enjoying balmy winter weather. Temperatures will be close to 80 degrees near the coast.
