On Friday, February 15, 2013 Graceville Police Department attempted to initiate a traffic stop at the intersection of Forrest Dr and 8th Ave, after the driver of the vehicle threw a large metal object out of the driver side window towards the driver side of the patrol vehicle.

Upon stopping the suspect vehicle, a maroon Chevrolet Impala, the occupants began acting erratic and back up was then requested from Jackson County Sheriff's Office before the officer attempted to exit the patrol vehicle.
Upon opening the driver door of the patrol vehicle, the occupants attempted to elude the officer by fleeing the traffic stop.
The suspect vehicle then fled towards Campbellton on Hwy 2.

A high speed pursuit ensued to Hwy 231 and followed Southbound to Hwy 73, North of Marianna.
Deputies with Jackson County Sheriff's Office staged a spike strip upon Hwy 73 to intercept the suspect vehicle.

Upon crossing the spike strip the suspect vehicle received damage to the driver side tires and came to a stop on the side of the highway.
The suspect on the driver side fled the scene on foot. The passenger exited the vehicle and surrendered to deputies on scene.
K9 Units with Apalachee Correctional Institute and Jackson Correctional Institute were called on scene to assist in locating the driver.

The suspect was tracked to a residence nearby and was located in the yard. The suspect resisted arrest with violence, but was subdued and taken into custody by deputies with Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect, Barry James Parrish Jr, was charged by Graceville Police Department with multiple felonies including aggravated fleeing/attempt to elude, possession of a weapon during a criminal offense, possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Additional charges are pending from Jackson County Sheriff's Office. The suspect has been linked with multiple burglaries that occurred in the City of Graceville between the 14th and 15th of February.
