Cambodia: Winds, Rains Destroy Houses & Schools


Heavy rains along with gusts of wind hit the capital of Phnom Penh and various provinces across the Cambodia, reported the national Ministry of Meteorology.

Director of Meteorology Department Oum Rina said that for two days the temperature would drop very low in many areas.

During that bad weather period, he urged individuals to remain alert and to try not to use their electronic devices to ensure their safety.

Chan Yuttha, spokesman of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology said that four people died and other ten people injured in recent storms and rains.

In addition to these causalities, 191 houses and two schools were destroyed and 801 houses as well as 6 schools were damaged.

The ministry instructed people living in the low land areas to stay alert to the climate change which might experience certain natural phenomena such as unusual rain and thunderstorms.
