The federal government says its graphic anti-smoking campaign is working.

In fact, it is planning another round of these ads showing diseased smokers next year.

It's all in an effort to nudge more Americans to kick the habit.

The Centers for Disease Control doesn't have a total on how many people actually tried to quit smoking, but the it says the ads generated nearly 200,000 extra calls to its quit line, 800-QUIT-NOW.

There were triple the amount of visitors to the CDC's web site, smokefree.gov, that offers tips to help smokers quit.
