A metro Atlanta sheriff has planned a boycott in response to a business banning the sale of semi-automatic and self-loading rifles to the general public.
Reports say Dana Safety -- which sells police and law enforcement equipment -- calls the ban a safety measure and Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry says he sent them a letter saying he'll no longer do business with them.
Company representatives say the policy limits rifle sales to law enforcement officials and Dana Safety remains dedicated to selling firearms responsibly.
Berry says he has received about 200 emails in support of his boycott, and those in opposition to the store's decision have taken to its Facebook page to voice their displeasure with the policy.
Sugar Hill is about 35 miles northwest of Atlanta.
