Bone Marrow Donors Can Be Paid

Some bone marrow donors can now be paid.

That's the ruling from a San Francisco federal appeals court.

Paying bone marrow donors had been outlawed by a 1984 law that said selling "vital organs" was a crime.

Only donors who use a new process called Apheresis will get paid.

The procedure takes cells from the donor's blood...instead of with a needle in the hip bone.
