Boehner onHouse-Passed Budget Deal: Victory

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bipartisan budget deal Thursday.

For House Speaker John Boehner it's a victory. He battled Tea Party aligned groups who were urging Republicans to vote "no" on the measure.

Boehner says those organizations have gone too far.

"They pushed us into the fight to defund the government over Obamacare," Rep. Boehner said. "One of these groups stood up and said, well, we never really thought it would work. Are you kidding me???"

The budget deal cuts the deficit by $23 billion over a 10-year period. Conservative groups say that's not enough.

Democrats, meanwhile, are unhappy the measure doesn't extend unemployment payments for about a million out-of-work Americans.

The bill now heads to the Senate where it's also expected to pass.
