The Bay County Sheriff's Office is investigating what's believed to be a murder-suicide in Southport.

Two bodies were found inside a home in the 9200 block of Resota Beach Road around 9:30 a.m. A friend had called the Sheriff's Office asking them to do a welfare check because the homeowner, Mack Kilpatrick, did not show up for work last night..

Deputies say the victims have been identified as 62-year-old Mack Kilpatrick and his ex-wife, 48-year-old Kelley Dickson.

Police recovered a handgun at the scene. They're waiting on autopsy results before saying who killed who.

Kilpatrick's sister, who lives a couple doors down, told NewsChannel 7 she can't believe her brother would do this.

Kilpatrick and Dickson divorced in November 2010, but Kilpatrick's sister says Dickson was having health problems, so her brother agreed to let Dickson stay with him.

We don't know of any trouble between the two, other than the divorce, but Kilpatrick does have a history with his first wife. They divorced in 1995. Seven months later, police arrested Mack for stalking her. She then got an order of protection against him. The stalking charge was later dropped.
