Attempted ATM Heist

It is clear the four suspects wanted to steal the a-t-m from the regions bank on Ross Clark Circle, but a plan they thought would work, didn't turn out the way they planned.

Take a look at the damage left behind after these 4 people tried to steal an ATM from the regions bank on Ross Clark Circle.

According to police, the four started their attempted heist Saturday January 12th, by renting a white van in Atlanta, and then making their way to Dothan.

Once inside the circle?

"Stealing a pick up truck, from the Dothan area, taking that to a hidden barn, taking a tool box out of the back of the vehicle, to get it prepared to hopefully handle the ATM," says Sgt. Rachel David, with the Dothan Police Department.

They didn't stop there.

"They had to make preparations to steal a fork lift which was also stolen here in the city limits of Dothan," says Sgt. Rachel David, with the Dothan Police Department.

Later, the four went to the bank to complete the task but were left empty-handed.

"In this particular attempt there was no success in getting the a-t-m machine, loaded onto the truck before the suspects had to flee the area,” says Sgt. Rachel David, with the Dothan Police Department.

After that Dothan police began searching for the four suspects.

"Upon arrival police found the forklift, which was still running and at the location," says Sgt. Rachel David, with the Dothan Police Department.

A quick acting police officer helped locate the suspects, but they had switched cars hoping to get away.

"Now a patrolman who was traveling on headland avenue, looking for a white truck noticing a white van, while it was not a pick up truck was traveling very slowly driving very suspiciously," says Sgt. Rachel David, with the Dothan Police Department.

After the four were pulled over, two were arrested. The other two took off.
To catch those two, multiple agencies were dispatched, including canines.

"Two canine teams from the Dothan police department, were mobilized in the area, to continue with the pursuit of the two suspects who fled," says Sgt. Rachel David, with the Dothan Police Department.

One person was caught but police are still looking for Demontra Flood.
